Personal

• Leo's from Chicago (or possibly Boston).
• He's of Irish Catholic descent.
• He's divorced from Jenny, they have a daughter Mallory O'Brien.
• He's a recovering alcoholic. He spent 28 days in a rehab center, Sierra Tucson, for addiction to alcohol and valium.
• In around August 2004 he suffered a serious heart attack in the woods at Camp David. He was critical, but recovered after heart bypass surgery.
• He has two sisters, Josie and Elizabeth.
• His father was an alcoholic who shot himself after a row with Leo's mother.
• Leo received the Medal Of David for being a good friend to Israel.

Professional & Education

• Leo achieved 1400 on his SATs.
• He possibly attended the University of Michigan.
• He served in the Air Force during Vietnam, in both the 1044th Fighter Wing and the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing.
  In September 1966 he took part in Operation Rolling Thunder, flying F105 fighters.
  He was shot down over Hanoi, suffering a broken leg, and had to wait three day to be rescued.
• Leo was Labor Secretary in around 1994.
• He was general chairman of the Bartlet For America campaign, bringing Josh and CJ onboard.
• Following his heart attack, Leo resigned as CoS and became a special advisor to the president. In the season 6 finale, Josh asked him to join the Santos ticket as vice-presidential nominee.

Misc

• It was Leo's idea for Jed to run for the presidency.
• It was also his idea for Josh to find a candidate to challenge Russell in the 2005 primaries.
• The Big Block Of Cheese Days were Leo's idea. He devised the days in memory of President Andrew Jackson.
• He likes doing the New York Times crossword.
• Leo doesn't like human names for animals.
