Charlie was 21 in 2000.
His mother was a police officer who was shot and killed on duty in June 1999.
His father is 'long gone'.
He has a younger sister, Deanna, who he is now responsible for.
His grandparents live in Georgia.
He lives in southeast DC.
He started dating Zoey Bartlet in 2000, they broke up sometime during season 3. During season 6 they are dating again and Charlie has asked Jed for Zoey's hand in marriage.

Graduated from Roosevelt High with excellent grades.
Originally applied for a messenger's job (he had his own bike), but Debbie DiLaguardia (now Deborah Fiderer) sent him to Josh as a candidate for the job of president's bodyman.
Started taking night classes in 2001.
When Charlie graduated college he had to leave his position as personal aide, as he'd promised the president he would. From season 6, he is now deputy assistant to the chief of staff.
Earned $600 a week (in 2001).

He was the intended target of West Virginia White Pride at Rosslyn.
He was arrested, along with Toby, while in California in 2003 after intervening when a drunk started harassing Toby's ex-wife, Congresswoman Andrea Wyatt.
